Ch 12- The Correlational Research Strategy

The goal of correlation research strategy is to show that two or more variables are related, like good grades and hours of sleep, for example. However,  correlational research cannot be used to demonstrate a cause and effect relationship between variables.  This kind of strategy  It is useful for preliminary research and verifies if those two variables are effectively related before starting deeply investigations in controlled experiments. The data collected of a correlational study is expressed by scores for each participant and are correlated in a graph called scatter plot to posterior analysis and evaluation of each pair of scores.  Three important aspects are considered to measure the relationship between the variables: the direction, form, and consistency of the relationship. The direction of a relationship differs in two ways. It can be positive, as the number on the X-axis increases, so does the number on the Y-axis, an...

Ch 13t- The Descriptive Research Strategy

The primary objective of a research strategy is to explore the variable (or variables) present in a specific behavior and their relationships. The type of question asked by the researcher is determinant to take a decision about the best approach to complete an accurate assessment of the study topic.  The goal of the descriptive research is to describe a single variable or obtain separate descriptions for each variable as they naturally exist. It is used to describe various aspects of the phenomenon. This strategy does not attempt to explain the cause-effect of the behavior, but why it occurs or what causes it. Moreover, in this scenario, the researcher has no control over the variables. Descriptive studies are fundamental to describes, explain and validate a Scientific Research.  The kinds of descriptive research designs : - Observational research - Survey research - Case study research   In an observational research design for example, ...

A Research Report in APA style

The research report refers to turn public to someone else the results achieved on a specific research study. It means that the report attends one of the basic principles of a scientific method, which is  Science is public. This kind of report is a document that must be accurate, objective and complete about all that was done, found, and also specifying how the specific study is related to other studies in the same field.  All that pieces of information are necessary prerequisites to prepare o an excellent material to be shown to the scientific community.  According to the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the  American Psychological Association is conveyed that the reports of behavioral science publications be presented using the APA style. The content of the Publication Manual establishes standardized structures of the reports to organize all its content in a way that enables the readers to find the pieces of information more objectively as possible. ...
